Welcome to the West Martello Gardens

Imagine spending your special day in stunning gardens set against a backdrop of the remains of a Civil War era fort. At the Gardens, you’ll find serene tropical lushness and historical charm. The gardens border the Atlantic Ocean, which make it truly a Key West favorite.

After your ceremony or event, your guests will able to wander the paths enjoying tropical foliage and blooming orchids. They can visit the Butterfly and White Gardens or take a walk along the hill bordering Higgs Beach, perhaps for a beautiful sunset view.

There are several spots to choose from for your ceremony. Your choices: by-the-sea, tropical foliage, or water feature – each will make your day special.

Garden Event Venues

Gazebo on the Hill

This beautiful white gazebo is situated on a small hill and has a stunning ocean view. Imagine saying your vows with the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop.

Waterfall

Many couples choose to hold their ceremony in front of the waterfall, which is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. The sound of water flowing over rocks adds wonderful background music to the ceremony.

Fountain

Newly installed after Hurricane Irma destroyed the original, this is a magnificent site for your ceremony. It’s flanked by black bamboo and Lipstick Palms, and is often the site of musical performances and other events.

Birdcage / Inside the Fort

A cozy room inside the fort flanked by lush greenery and antique brickwork. This is perfect for a smaller ceremony or life celebration.

Under the Almond Tree

Next to the Butterfly Garden and up on a hill is a magnificent Almond tree. Many couples choose to have their ceremony here, under the Almond Tree, with the sea as the backdrop and warm breezes blowing off the ocean.

Courtyard/Vanda Orchid Arbor

The courtyard is perfect for a reception! Tables can be set up either under a tent or al fresco. Imagine fairy lights twinkling under the tent or flickering candles on the tables, with the scent of night-blooming flowers wafting in the air.

The Fort and Gardens at Night

The gardens are perfect for an evening reception. Nothing is more romantic than the moon, the sea, tiny lights glittering in the trees, and candles on the tables giving off a wonderful warm glow. Your guests can wander in the garden, take in the fragrances of flowers in the evening, and see wonderful surprises at every turn.

The Peace Garden and Labyrinth by the Sea

An ancient symbol that relates to wholeness, a labyrinth combines the imagery of the circle and spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. It represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Our Peace Garden and Labyrinth is an open space overlooking the sea, perfect for personal meditation or a small group reserved event. A sunset wedding here is spectacular.
